The IWP leader may consult with grade-level teams or departments in a school to guide teachers as they compare their implementation of a new instructional strategy, trouble-shoot challenges, or study examples of student work to identify student abilities or needs, or to observe the effect of a teaching strategy on students’ writing skill. These meetings would be coordinated with workshop sessions and/or demonstration lessons in order to deepen support for teachers’ adoption of new approaches to teaching writing. If the school has a literacy coach, he or she would be involved in and help lead these meetings, based on planning with the IWP leader.
